League Principals
Our league is mindful that this program may well be the only opportunity for some girls to play and compete in organized basketball since the junior high school programs can only support a finite number of participants. Therefore, the William A. Valentine League makes every effort possible to ensure that any 4th through 9th grade girl who wants to play basketball will be given the opportunity to participate.
Consonant with this philosophy, the program centers on some basic principles. First, there is an expectation that each coach will concentrate on teaching the girls good sportsmanship, cooperation and fellowship during practice and game competition. Second, the coaches will begin a process in which the girls learn some fundamental basketball skills. Hopefully, these skills will promote a lasting interest in athletic competition while providing them with an enjoyable and meaningful winter activity.
